How to Post from Instagram to Twitter with Photos Instead of Text Links
Once upon a time we could post photos from Instagram to Twitter and they would appear in the stream for all our friends to see, but then Facebook bought Instagram and Twitter decided they didn’t want to play anymore, so they took their ball and went home. Now when you share a photo from Instagram to Twitter, all your friends see is a link instead of your cool photo.
For those of you who still want to play. you’ll need to bring your own ball, but I’m going to show you where to find it. The solution is IFTTT which stands for If This Then That. Basically, you set up a series of events called a “recipe” that is triggered when a certain action occurs. Don’t worry though, I’m going to give you the recipe.
Step 1: Go to IFTTT and set up an account.
Step 2. Click here to get the “recipe”.
Step 3: Authorize your Instagram and Twitter accounts in the recipe.
That’s all there is to it and now, when you post a photo on Instagram it will automatically post on Twitter and show up right in your friends’ streams just as if you’d uploaded it directly to Twitter.
One thing to keep in mind. This script runs every time you post a photo on Instagram so if that’s not something you want to do you’ll also want to download the IFTTT mobile app on your phone so you can turn off the recipe any time you don’t want one of your Instagram photos posted on Twitter.
